Artist 26: Ethan Murrow

This artist has to be a fan of MC Escher. He makes graphite and lithograph drawings that are often surreal and play with different kinds of space. Of course, he is not a second Escher; he's very much his own artist. He does not use optical illusion the way that Escher does, and his drawings have a focus on texture that isn't so evident in Escher's drawings, and which I think is one of the strengths of drawing as a medium anyways.

Also, the content references Freud and his ideas about consciousness. Yay for psychology! He shows figures that are mostly concealed, or random spheres that just cannot be reached. He also has drawings representing the mind as a machine. All very fun and interesting for someone like me who loves abstractions and symbolism. The only thing is it makes me miss colors.
